Director's Message
The Erciyes University Center for Media and Religious Studies was established on April 21, 2017. Since its inception, the Center has pursued the mission of strengthening initiatives focused on the relationship between media and religion in our country, formalizing this intersection as a field of academic inquiry, promoting the development of new methodological approaches, and bringing international academic perspectives into the national scholarly discourse.
In line with the Center's stated vision of “contributing to efforts to raise awareness about the educational value of the relationship between media and religion in our country,” the "Media and Religion" course has been included in the curriculum of Erciyes University's Faculty of Communication since 2018. The Center also contributed to the organization of the International Media and Islamophobia Symposium, held on May 25–26, 2021, in cooperation with RTÜK, the Presidency of Religious Affairs, TRT, SETA, and Erciyes University. This initiative continued with the 2nd International Media and Islamophobia Forum, which took place on March 15, 2022. In 2023, a film festival aligned with the Center’s areas of expertise was planned as part of a cooperation protocol signed between the Ministry of National Education's General Directorate of Religious Education and Erciyes University.
